How to choose safe toys for your baby

Toy play an important role in the growth of children.

In the case of babies, they have a tendency to suck anything and put everything in their mouths, so we have to be more cautious when choosing toys.

Today we are going to talk about choosing the safest toys for our babies.

  1. Choose a toy that is appropriate for your baby’s age.

(As we mentioned earlier, all toys cater to the development stage of each age group; so you better to choose a toy that suits your baby’s development, the more useful it is lowering the risk of an accident.)

  1. Toys must be at least 1 ¼ inch in size to prevent choking hazard.

Avoid toys with marbles, coins, small balls, and small magnets if possible and if it is unavoidable, we should make sure that they are securely attached and will not fall apart easily.

  1. Avoid toys that would be too loud for your baby. Examples of those toys would be musical toys, toy phones, horns ; they would produce high decibels over 120dB.

It is always best to test a product before handing it to your baby. Make sure it is not too loud for them by placing it by your ear. Unlike the hearing of adults, the hearing of babies who are just starting to develop is sensitive and must be protected. Toy being too loud may result in damage of hearing or hearing loss.

  1. Make sure it’s unbreakable and strong enough to withstand chewing. You should also inspect the toy for sharp edges.
  2. Make sure it is made of safe materials and non-toxins.

If the toy has a printed area, make sure to check if the color comes off by rubbing the area. If the color does not rub off, it is recommended to research if the color printed is non-toxic.

  1. Avoid toys that flash light for a long time, as this may cause PSE (photosensitive epilepsy)
  2. Regularly inspect the toys for damage or potential danger through regular inspection.
